The Foundress of the School

Mother St. John Kennedy, the visionary foundress of the Mary Immaculate School, assumed the role of its first principal in 1934, a position she held with unwavering dedication until 1949. Under her pioneering leadership, the school embarked on a journey of academic excellence and character formation that continues to shape generations of students.
In 1934, she oversaw the establishment of the school’s first set of buildings, providing a haven for learning and personal growth. As time progressed, Mother St. John’s commitment to education remained steadfast, evident in the expansion and modernization of the school facilities in 1965.
These structures, imbued with history and educational significance, stand as a testament to her enduring legacy and the enduring commitment of The Mary Immaculate School to nurturing young minds for a brighter future.

THE SCHOOL EMBLEM
The emblem of the congregation and motto inscribed on it “Faith, Toil, Progress” appropriately characterize our institutions. The sisters faithful to their motto, live by faith, constantly at work, urged on by an ardent desire for progress.
The spirit of Mary Immaculate High School is symbolically expressed in its emblem. It is nothing but the spirit of the life of St. Charles lived out in the 15th century in total commitment and faithfulness to the will of God. The same spirit has been passed on to us down the ages and well depicted in the Coat of Arms.

The centre of the emblem is occupied with the shield. The colour blue depicts the colour of the mantle of Mother Mary. The red colour of the shield Characterises the loving heart of Jesus and His sacrifice for the redemption of the humankind. The golden bee-hive is flanked by bees of golden hue on either side. Above these are found the letters S.C.B (ST.CHARLES BORROMEO) in silver, entwined with a golden chord. The whole shield is surrounded by lilies and violets, with our motto – FAITH, TOIL, PROGRESS, inscribed in the midst. The entire crest is surmounted by a cross, radiating the rays of divine love. The bee-hive represents every institution of St.Charles, inhabited by busy bees-all working together for the common goal
- The cross – Love and Sacrifice
- The Shield – Justice & Equanimity
- The Beehive – Unity and Team Spirit.
- The Bees – Hard Work, Competence and Loyalty.
- The Letters SCB – Communion and Harmony
- Lillies and violets – Purity, Simplicity and Humility.
- The Motto – Toil, Faith and Progress
The School Song
Look down O Lord and bless our school
and all who here abide:
Day by day and year by year
Be near us, lead us, guide.
Ref.: With faith in the heart of all we do
With work as our strong right hand
Every onward we progress
Towards God’s Promised Land.
Bless our sisters, teachers all
That they may ever be
In all they do and all they say
Remembrances of thee.
Bless us too that we may be
In youth and age the same
Permit no words or deeds of ours
To stain our school’s fair name
